The homeowners of this oceanfront home were keen on two ideas when approaching us to transform their vacation home into a primary residence: sustainability and preserving the neighborhood’s shingle style vernacular. Utilizing the latest in building technology to create a super insulated, tight thermal envelope alongside a geothermal heating + cooling system, this RI home has an estimated average monthly heating and cooling cost of just over $100. While modern in its building systems, the house remains harmonious within its traditional context through thoughtful attention to size, form, and details.
